UFC326 FR017 - Winners and Roundup
A much anticipated BMF with smashing main card fights, check out our roundup and find out the winners of FR017

UFC looking to keep the fights coming as the two big main cards subside this was the next best thing. A long awaited rematch between Holloway and Olivera left a little to be desired while the earlier fights throughout the main card kept the hype going. Here's our brief roundup before we get in to the winners of our third Fantasy comp of the year!

Main card got off to a cracking start, going into this i thought that Rodrigues's height and reach would play a big role, but the fact that Rodrigues had been knocked out by Ferreira left a little bit of doubt in my mind - that doubt soon subsided with a straight right, over Ferreira's guard avenging the KO loss from earlier in his career and earning himself a performance bonus! Great start to the main card.
Enter Drew Dober and Michael Johnson - Dober the physically stronger fighter with Johnson the quicker striker landing more shots, Dober was ultimately too strong and landed mean solid punch putting Johnson to sleep and earning Dober a performance bonus! Johnson was visibly upset at the call, but i think it was pretty clear to all watching that it was the right call to make.
Rosas v Font, promised to be a striking vs grappling but surprisingly Font was trying some of his own grappling skills. Font was clearly the better striker and dominated, but it didnt take Rosas long to realise that his advantage was tying Font up which he did for most of the fight. He was unable to get the finish although he tried until the very end - Respect to font for holding his own and giving it his best shot, but ultimately Rosas got away with a Dec. I had high hopes for Rosas, but his striking game needs some work if he is ever going to compete at the top level - But then again he's only 21 so maybe he needs to slow down and work on becoming more well rounded.
Onto the co-main Caio vs RDR - and just thinking about it makes my balls hurt. That double Knee, followed by some more knees, Caio gunna need some RNR that for sure! Was a pretty close matchup all the way through RDR didnt really seem to be able to get Caio to engage in the grappling where he may have had an advantage. By the same token, Caio definitely out struck RDR but not the point that i was overly impressed. Caio got away with a DEC finish, and then gave an acceptance speech like he was the world champ! I like Caio, but i recon his game needs some work, that low guard and gas tank are going to leave him stranded against the best of the best.
And the main! Holloway vs Olivera for the BMF belt and to avenge a long standing rivalry! I really had high hopes for this and before i locked in my picks i definitely thought it could've gone the way it did (even though i ultimately took Holloway by DEC) - Olivera smothered him and Holloway simply had no answers. It is so clear that Holloway had on the feet and Olivera on the ground, what was disappointing is that Holloway literally had nothing from the ground. Olivera wasn't able to finish divisively and unfortunately it turned into a bit of a snooze fest with Olivera winning by DEC.
The whole sport needs to start addressing this wrestling/grappling - Its not acceptable for a fighter to have no ground game anymore and its also not acceptable to cuddle for 25 minutes without doing anything significant. Obviously its great to see equally matched skills but when there is such a disparity in wrestling we can sometimes end up with 5 rounds of very little Fighters like Olivera and Khamzat have figured out that they can rely on it too much and unfortunately it can mean they control a lot of the fight, but don't do anything significant and end up getting a decision.
I think it will be great to see fighters develop out of this and come up with answers that will make some of these bouts exciting again! They need Volk in their corner!!
Onto the results from the Fantasy FR017
Man great turnout with thousands of picks being made for the FR017 - I thought i got off to a cracker start with 2 perfect scores followed by two correct winners but not how i expected and the fizzled with Holloway DEC. Ended up in 30th spot! Far from where i wanted to be!
Before i get into it, i just wanted to say!
